First post in a looong time...

I've got a GTA 1000 that I take to the beach every once in a while. If I stay in the dry, powdery sand I am good to go. But as soon as I move into any area that is wet (damp) I get almost constant false signals. Is there a new coil that would allow me to search all of the beach? I'm not concerned with actually hunting in the water, I just want to be able to cover all of the beach.

Thanks in advance,
Michael

Most wet sands (salt) will challenge a VLF metal detector. Double D coils help somewhat. I don't think there is a DD coil for the 1000. The best you can do is turn down the sensitivity and also notch out some of the obvious junk like iron.

I do believe the 10x14 Power DD coil that the CX uses will work with the GTA 1000. Might want to check with a dealer before buying one though. #2216800 is the part number, you could probably call and ask Garrett as well.
