Ground probing practice

I walked a small area of field. Nothing too special, but I was happy to have success probing. Eventually it’ll be something good.
Photo, bottom:
Small piece of heat-treated flint and what looked like a small hatchet head in situ. But alas, I see no signs of workmanship (rock). The curved piece, on the left, has a nice flat straight cleave to it. Also some red mixed in with the gray. I may see if I can polish it a little.
Just proof that probing can get results. I believe I’ll do a small pit dig after the beans are out. 1 area produced a concentration of flakes this spring.

The hatchet looking rock looks like the bit edge has no patina. Like maybe it was indeed used for something. It’s a naturally shaped rock for sure, but that bit has me wondering. Did you try it out by chance?

No, I just ran a garden hose on it to get the dirt off.
