Hey guys found this beautiful stone on the backside of squaw peak Arizona. Super green with darker areas of green and super heavy like 14 pounds heavy. Looks like jade but I’m no expert so any info would be greatly appreciated. I also found a bunch of others
crystal structure is Hexagonal
one might be tempted to mention copper attributing the green but I doubt it. This looks like a granitoid (I'd say quartz diorite), the hexagonal crystals being quartz in that vug on the upper left of picture #4. The green is likely hydrothermal metasomatism (alteration) of the feldspars to epidote.
*EDIT* - and the darkest green is probably chlorite
Can you take a picture outside in natural light, zoomed in closely while keeping perfect focus? The dry pic poses some questions, but it could be the interior lighting throwing it off
