Did you get an answer in the bottle forum? If not, here's a pic of a green one. I can't tell if it is embossed or not. Dated 1961:

Whiskey.com says that 1961 was the last year of the colored bottles, when they switched to clear. The one they were specifically talking about had more markings on the bottom, so I would presume yours is earlier. Try plugging in random pre-1961 dates (along with white horse scotch whiskey) and it may help finding a match... Adding "green" may not help, as it sounds like a lot of them were before '61.

Updated: this bottle, from 1930, appears to have a screw cap, so you need to go earlier still I would guess; http://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/P-11117.aspx
and they started in 1890 or shortly after.
