My hunting buddy Arthur and I took a trip to Lexington Kentucky from Toronto Canada over the weekend.
We met up with a terrific host Jamie (1320)who lives near Lexington, to do some detecting.
we had a great time doing some churches a couple schools and a civil war site
and a few city parks.
we had good success at this one church and school.
we got skunked at the civil war site.
but it was still fun having the chance to detect such a site.
I managed at the church 3 mercs 1 lg cent 1811-17 1 Indian head 1905 and a whack of Wheaties. and a nice 14k yellow gold wedding ring.
the coins in that part of Kentucky seem to go real deep. most of the oldies were 6- 10" I got the Indian at 9.5" and many Wheaties were 8".
the clad was deep as-well 0-8" at most locations.
the parks in Lexington seem to have been hunted pretty Good. we only managed newer clad, It was raining the day we hit the parks in Lexington and we only detected for a few hours, so I'm sure we would have found some oldies eventually.
we will be making this a yearly thing.
we have made a new good friend.
Thanks Jamie for the great time.

Great finds guys!

Looks like it was a fun time for all. Really enjoyed the pics you've posted!

Thanks,
Rod

not sure yet on the value i have not looked them up yet.

It was a pleasure to host some good neighbors from the North Country. I learned alot from hunting with these guys. They were a lot more experienced than me and had quite an investment in this trip so they absolutely maximized their "swing" time, including night hunting which I just absolutely fell in love with! Sorry 'bout that Ky bourbon guys but by Ky standards, IT WAS COLD!

If anyone ever gets a chance to hunt with these guys, do it, you won't regret a minute, they are pros. They were very generous with their knowledge and just good, good people in general. And these guys have no problem knocking on doors! They also have no problem with yelling "LARGE CENT" at the top of their lungs at 11:00 o'clock at night! What a blast.

I hope that Arthur will post some of his finds, he happended upon some nice stuff as well.

....and for the record Don, the grand total of dogs at the Olympian Springs Hotel is 56....... :o

:D LOOKS LIKE A GREAT TRIP WITH GREAT PEOPLE VERY NICE FINDS INCLUDING THE FIND OF FRIENDSHIP

Oh man. Some great finds. The people of Kentucky are very nice and it's great you were able to meet some of them. The detector arsenal looks like a dealer showroom. Jim Cal
