After a long winter of no detecting ,I recently returned home from working in western Canada to the best detecting conditions we've seen in a long time. Patriot joined me and Iron Patch for a series of hunts on some nice old colonial sites we had lined up for weeks now. Each day proved that there's still a bunch left to find and we did our best to make this year memorable to say the least.
Our first day included an old French Acadian and Rev War site, lots of buttons ,coins and relics. Day 2 put us at an old shipbuilding site which seemed to be loaded with coins and bits of ship spike fragments. And on day 3 we got back to a good old site which was settled by Loyalists, as far as we know.

It took us a couple of fields which held nothing to appreciate the sites we did end up making our days from.

here's the finds!!
a nice little pile of colonial coins, a pewter button which needs an id, crown over some script ARM(ED), some relics , a harp, bayonette frog and scabbard tip, and half a buttplate from a musket, a really nice button, my best copper of the weekend a 1792 Camac Kyan and Camac token from Ireland, a counterstamped coin, I believe it's P.Plun(ket) I think I've seen this one before, a nice French silver 1729 1/20 ecu I believe, and one for the id gurus, half a coin? could be a medallion or jeton, I'm looking forward to any insight on this one

and the pics!!

Awesome start to the season ironhorse :hello2:

As for the unknown I think it's an oblate medallion rather than a jetton:

That might be it. I knew I seen something similar and it was probably the medieval era medals I had a couple of years ago. A couple were round, not the typical pendant shape and I do now recall one with a similar design.

Funny my first avenue of research was based on what I thought was a Abbot facing right with arm out stretched holding a Crozier. Didn't get far with this when I thought I saw an arm coming in from the right from another person.
These medallions look like that started in the 17th century, so still need to track this one down, plus can't discount a Jeton just yet as its the sort of subject they might use.

You hauled in the Colonial goods, IH. That is what I like to see! Wait, I think I just said the same thing to IP. :laughing9:

that haul is disgusting, i mean, is the stuff dreams are made of.
hope you have many more before the year is out.
very, very cool!

many thanks for all of your comments and hats off once again to the id gurus, I can now get my head around the purpose of the medal frag I found, now to get the other half this fall perhaps!

after a closer look at one that couldn't get away, it does have Duke of Lancaster on the legend IP!...

Here's the reason the Cronebane one was coming to mind. But the Lancaster ones are usually a bit bigger and dated earier too (at least I seem to recall they are, and most are) I need a good book but they are in the range of $100.

Rev:

Makes more sense being 1792. Does it happen to have the diameter and weight listed? This coin is definitely smaller and lighter than others.

I also did a little research, chance it could be a canal token, other scenario, it's a Irish token used in the early 19th century, date is 1799 for certain.

I don't think many Condor tokens are that small so I think you should stay on it, especially if you are sure it's 1799.

Looked at the aerials for the first big field on the water we were talking about and it looks like it is probably privately owned considering the access points.

the '2's for this issue have an unmost closed top looks like a 9.

OK, got it.
No sizes or weights, but assuming the book is a 1:1 scale which it looks roughly, there is a smaller issue about 16mm (measured picture), which are descibed as immitations with a closed loop 2 looking like a 9 with a rarity rating of 'R' (goes up to RRR) (Common, scarce, Rare, Very Rare, Extremely Rare)
