I've been waiting for months for a field to be cut, they finally cut it this past week!! It is adjacent to a large camp we hunted years ago.. with a couple of nice high spots that have picket post written all over them! I spent about 7 hours between two trips out hunting it yesterday. I picked up lots of random dropped bullets and some misc brass but the EMI was KILLING my V3i. I tried the tricks I have read, and seem to be doing better in single freq. I walked a ridgeline and picking up a few drops and then everything just disappeared!! Dead air for a long time! I circle the hilltop thinking it would be a waste... dug one lone flat button.. and then bam.. got a heck of a signal.. and dug the Eagle Plate!! I had picked up 20 some bullets, a few buttons and the plate at this point.. I was taking a friend out who just started digging... helping him get use to my DFX.. so we called it a day at that point. ZSo.. i went home.. cleaned up my relics and myself.. got something to eat.. but that field just kept calling me!!! Soo.. I loaded my jeep back up and head back out.. went a different direction this time.. and bullets were popping out just like the old days!! I dug another 30 or so in about a hour.. two saber tips and a few other odds and ends.. finally had to give up when the sun set. For a little while it was like the "Good old days" had to go empty my pouch I had some many bullets!!!
Heading back out today!!! ;-)

HH everyone!!!

Part 2: Well, a lesson in humility!! I took the Pitdiggers with me back to this spot.. had EMI issues the second I turned on my V3i. I walked over and checked.. the 6 wire electric fence was HOT! They did ok, a nice assortment of relics coming out of the ground... I, on the other hand... could not find so much as a bullet to save my life!! I spent more time switching coils, trying the freq offset, salt compensation etc... I dug a melted piece of lead, some iron, shotgun shells and a big pouch full of humble!! NOT to sound like I am complaining!! I dug more then my fair share the day before... but man.. you would expect a couple of bullets!!! ;-) Goes to show... no matter how many years you have been a it... no matter what machine... if the coil does not pass over a relic just the right way... you are not digging squat!!! ;-) I was glad to get them out, I have not had a spot to take them in quite some time. so that was cool... ;-)

That is a very impressive total on your finds, best part is the year is not over yet. I think at your pace, you may find yet another 2-3 down the road. Just try and leave some for the rest of the field ;D

Looks like another great day(s) in Virginia!! Congrats on the finds. As someone who got into the hobby a number of years ago with hopes of one day getting up to Virginia and digging a few relics, I am green with envy... :icon_thumright:

Have you thought about asking the owner to turn off the fence for a while?
As long as there isn't any farm animals that could get out maybe they would accommodate you.

Nice haul dude!! I remember the good ol days too. Come out with bucket loads.

You are on fire!!What a year you and your son is having!!Keep at it!

Thanks! I've thought about asking them... but the fences are to keep the deer and other animals out... not livestock in!! It's a BIG and long fence.... 6 or 7 wire... and man.. it puts out some noise!! I'll wait til the next time we lose power and hope it's not on a generator!!

I've had various degrees of interference... this time we had a TDI, V3i, DFX and (2) MXTs out there... all of them were suffering...

very nice finds Congratulations!!! on number 10 :laughing7:
