The weather was too nice and the snow was finally gone so it was time to swing the machine. I hit 3 cellars that we're within 10 minutes of another. After the first hunt,I was happy. I decided to work the iron around the edge of the hole and was rewarded with a 4 hole button and a 1900 Indian. After that it was quiet for a while. I decided to go down to another couple off of a woods road. The first one, only a couple of old nails. I went to the other one,to give it a shot. 6-8 months ago,I had a A-HA moment with my CTX so I wanted to see. I went around the edge of the rock pile that was the cellar than Bam,a button! Then another and another! There's this huge boulder on one corner and as I went near it,there was a screaming high tone. But it was about 6-8 inches long so I was pretty sure it was a file or some other long metal object. I started digging and soon realized that I was digging the chimney stack. Hard digging, brick after brick. After 8 inches,I saw what looked to be a oval rock. Nope,I spoon bowl . I could tell it was pewter right away because I scratched it with my shovel. I figured it was just the bowl but to my surprise, the entire spoon was INTACT. Very little degradation,I figured the bricks must have protected it somehow.Theres a x on the top of the handle,I wonder if that's a makers mark? After that,it was hard to concentrate. I dug a 3 ring bullet and 3 more buttons. 2 tombacs and a nice pewter with design and great back. I had pounded the crap out of this for 4 years and not found anything here for a while. I guess that's why they say the CTX makes old sites new again.Happy Hunting everyone! So that's what they look like whole. Cool find, I've got many, many pieces but none whole. Congrats!

I agree with hunting deer's entire post! Killer spoon find!

That spoon is awesome! Good job on that and the rest of your finds!
Thanks! I’ll be lucky if I ever get another intact spoon like this ,seeing how fast it falls apart. Almost a once in a lifetime moment, now to preserve it.
