I wouldn't say I disagree with you Whitebeard. I guess my point was that it was great to hear a cache story where the cache was found and there was an actual ending to the story rather than a thread that just sort of ends.

Most all of us on this site need to review the fact that out Great GrandFather may have left a cache of coins somewhere. I know that one of mine died of a heart attack, and on a farm, althought he worked at a Military Base. He had a small machine shop in his barn, I need to check it out, its in the next town over from me.

Sorry my friend not giving out site locations only approximates such as town in this case, this was a family affair and none of my business and these coins being all American coins found in Canada who knows where they came from, maybe they where well earned by his great-grandad since he had left his home a few times to go and find work, maybe it was in the USA since a lot of people used to go down in the states to find work in those days, where they stolen? many questions unanswered that will never be.

I was hoping it was gonna be one of those honkin' big ceramic 15-gallon jobs from around 1890.

I hope in your excitement you did not forget to go back over the hole...the real treasure may have been underneath the jar. Not uncommon for newbies (me included) to forget to re-check.

Bobinsd has a good point, the Spaniards were very good at burning a small treasure on top of a large one...there have been several finds near old gold mines where the "highgraders" did the samething. Find someone near you with a H3 element detector, They can cover the whole area in a few minutes-mine does 1 mile scan at a time they can pinpoint anymore silver to within an inch from the mile away..and don't pay attention to those that may try to slam the H3 its a proven instrument and not a dowsing rod...contact them(H3tec) to find someone in your area. People pay my expenses to travel help find their treasure all over the US. If its there the H3 will find it.

I agree with the OP, it's not his and has no rights to hunt it or reveal any specifics on the location..

out of curiosity, did it look like a place where you would bury something, like under a fencepost, beside a large rock, or due south from the outhouse, or did it just look as if tho it was placed randomly.

I really feel sorry for the guy who thinks the 11 days was for nothing! Wonder if he has ever spent 11 days with a friend(Priceless--to steal a phrase), wonder if he has any friends or does he just worship money?
