Greetings All ~!
Had some warmer weather up here in New Hampshire,
Great day for some digs :hello2:
Spent 5 hours combing the flats, pulled a lot of stuff !!
My 2 best 19th century Silvers yet, 1857 3C & 1871 Canada 10C,
(which I thought was a Bust dime til I got home, I don't look closely in the field,
never know who's watching )
Mike, I guess I don't need a new detector to find my bronze Anchor !
(well, maybe I do, cause this one is brass)
A plated Brass Terrier, has 2 attachment points on bottom, maybe from a trophy :icon_scratch:
Brass pocketwatch, no maker, just 'Made in USA'
Small 1 piece button, backmark 'Rich Color',
parts & escapemants from 3 clocks, one Lead filled halfmoon pendulum,
USN flashlight, brass chalice thing ? candleholder :icon_scratch:
Anyone think this pewter piece may be a shoe buckle :dontknow:
A kerosene light shroud from an early Ford (Brown Model 16)
Dug my biggest hole ever to retrieve a Nash hubcap,
an ornamental whatsit, Curtain rod holder??
2 whale oil lamp wick holders, and an Adlake,
a few lead/pewter buttons,
and 15 -20 pounds of brass & copper scrap for the recycle.,
Thanks for looking & HH to All

nice variety... love the three center.... :dontknow:ive never been able to find one of those yet..
Greetings bootyhoundpa,
These tiny, thin silvers were easy to lose, & harder to find.
they sound almost like a foil signal on my machine,
this was a secondary find on the rescan of a hole,
had worked it's way through 5" of mud into the blue clay below.
Yours is Coming

As always Herbie, you find some of the coolest stuff! :o
The 1871 Canada Silver Dime is apparently a fairly rare date, only 800,000 were minted that year. The average mintage of Canadian dimes from 1858 to 1890 was between 1.2 million and 1.6 million per year.
The average selling price for a coin in this condition would book at around $20.

These two are my favourites pieces!
Can you tell me what the purpose of this anchor might have been? :icon_scratch:
Just for decoration maybe?

Dave
Hi Dave,
Thanks for that coin info!
Seems the most detailed coin info online is on US issues.
The anchor has a small hole in the back for wall hanging,
for any functionality the beam would be at 90' to the flukes,
which makes for difficulties with stowage.(or display)
Best Digs to You!

Herbie,
I love seeing your posts. You always have a great variety of relics. I'm loving those coins and large anchor. :hello2:
Well done!

Hi Herbie,

I understand what you're saying about the on-line research thing. The majority of websites Google picks up here are of course, Canadian websites. If I want to research something in the US then I have to use a US based search engine.
Thanks for the info on your anchor, I had a feeling it was a decorator item. :laughing7:

Happy Hunting buddy at least your getting out!
Dave

awesome digs!!! congrats
