Great Day Of Diggin' Civil War Relics With MonkeyBoy (Lots of Pics!)
Hey TNET,
Today was one of those days that when your done you are already wishing to go back out and hit the fields some more. As MonkeyBoy had said in his post we hit a First Battle of Manassass or Bull Run spot and the relics just began rolling out of the ground. No sooner were we out of the car before finding the first bullets and relics. To start the day I got a solid hit and kicked away the leaves to find a three ringer sitting on top of the ground. This just setup what was to come... The totals are as follows:
7 three ringers, 1 gardner, 1 sharps, 1 williams cleaner (type 2), 4 round ball, lead splashes, buckshot, one lead carved percussion cap pick, 1 washington arsenal, brass rossette, 1 artillery shrapnel, 1 parrot fuse, 1 US 83 Tag, various rivets and grommets, 2 brass buckles, 1 cleaning jag, 2 merqs (1 1916 but with no D sadly), 1 IH, 1 silver Australian quarter, 1 unidentifiable copper coin, 1 flat button, 1 piece of carbine sling buckle, 1 button back of a confederate block button but the front dissolved into thin air, 1 burnside case, 1 field made brass wedding band, 1 brass belt tip, 1 lead clothing weight, and the heartbreaker..... The outer edge of a NY staff button covered in gold gilt with both the back and center of the front missing with only the Excelsior ledgible. The unfortunate part is that my kids find most of the finds haha Here are all the pictures. Enjoy!!!
