We hit my latest research spot today and it produced some nice finds. 1816 LC another LC which date has yet to be revealed, and these 2 mystery coins. The one with the Flor-de-les appears to be hammered!!?? And the other is a little bigger than a penny but thinner. My friend Nat found both of them at colonial sites dating mid 1700s to 1850s (that's when they go off the maps) Then...I got a "spoon spill" haha. Great day, any help with ID is appreciated on coins. GL and HH! Thanks. I tried looking it up. Strange coin to find in southern Maine....

They are considered a Colonial coin so did circulate. The other is going to be the odd one. I thought maybe Spanish Netherlands, but had a look at what I was thinking and not it... so maybe it's Spain.Plenty enough to ID so you'll get an answer.

Very cool coins you dug, and relics as well! I like the bell and the lock/chain.

The button on the right may be a French Marines. If you can post a good shot of the back I can probably say yes or no... especially if the loop is intact. I'll add two pics so you can judge for yourself as well.

The one to the right of the coppers is sadly just a lowly wheat cent. The only button is the huge one that's work totally flat

Here is a cleaned pic of the other coin. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1478128788.512804.jpgImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1478128802.842802.jpg

Man nice digs...congrats on the old coppers..The lock is just a completely awesome find imo..One of the nicest old complete locks I have seen. I wonder if it was used for a train box car?

Wonderful finds! Congrats. -Lisa & John

I think Iron Patch means this one circled in red--ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1478138883.450875.jpg

Yes...the one you circled is a 1911 wheat cent. It's a bad pic and a bad angle. I can see how it looks like a button. Thank you all for all the help with IDs!

Wow, that really has the illusion of being convex in that pic.

Yeah it was close enough to double check. Ironically another poster on the thread realized he has one, and that one I could confirm just from a pic.
