Grape Shot?

I found this in an area that would have been pretty active during the French and Indian War. It is lead, and I put a nickle next to it for scale. I don't know what the coating is, it may be just the way the lead has weathered.
All I can think is that it's grape shot, but I don't know very much about these things. I'm hoping there's an "expert" out there.

Neat find. Trk5capt, I thought the small lead ones were "case shot" and the iron ones were grape. Am I wrong? You always have some great finds also...d2
