First off My Thanks to JW at Kelly Co, and their management, for his assistance in securing me my late X-mas Gift. :hello2::thumbsup:

The GPZ 7000 is mine. Whoo hooo! But there is a slight snag~ I did not expect it to arrive so quickly. I thought it'd be a week or two so while I'm here in AZ I had it sent to my safe address... mom's house... because I will be leaving next week to return East on business.
Had I known the arrival date I'd have gotten it here and had a day or two to play with it here on a patch I know. Oh well. I'll unbox it when I get to SC at the beginning of March and do some relic hunting first before the beach.... gotta learn it before OZ this summer.

It was funny though to get a call from mom saying a package had arrived~ at the same time JW calls to say it should be there. Had mom check the invoice and confirm... called JW back and had a yarn. Seems that its the first and only one they received so far. They never even opened it just packed it and off it went. :) The box is plain jane~ no logo's so I reckon it would have been their demo unit. Guess being first in line caught me the fish ;)

Happy happy :) Again Thanks JW and Kelly Co.

Now for the rest of the trip.....

I'm thinking something along the lines of a sword baldric but with a support the extends just above the shoulder and to the side of the shoulder. In 2010 I was able to just use a loop on my pack for holding my pick when I used my big coil. Problem is the pick liked to pick on my head ;) :( And unlike a sword picks don't like to come out with a swish ready to dig.
I don't know of any commercial devices at this time however I'm wondering if I can find a leather worker who can make a support. It'll still be a harness anyway one looks at it. The GPZ is very sensitive to anything getting close to it so wearing a large pick on my side don't cut the mustard... besides my arm would be banging into it with the swing arm. And wearing the pick on my arse just bangs my legs and is very annoying. I tried across the back too... pick digs into the back or falls out.

Ok Thanks DD I saw a vid of JP using the 7000 with the pick on his side. But even my 2300 reacts to the pick when it's on my side so I don't know how he was doing that. I'm gonna have to look around.

strick

I took note of how JP was set up as well. He's probably just learned to accept the interference from the pick as he commonly uses large coils on his hunts. I usually carry mine over my shoulder when working with 16 inch or better coils but with the GPZ's weight and swing arm I'm looking to pack the pick out of the way. Small picks are not a problem but I carry a full size job and she sounds off with a low grunt at waist height.

Does that GPS on or off on the menu make you wonder if you are being tracked? lol

I don't think I would ever switch it on...Garmin handhelds have cornered the market for plotting tracks and pinpointing locations. I think Minelab wasted their time on that gimmick, lol.
