GPS tracking?

hey is there a gps system out there that can keep track where you have looked?

Are you referring to a GPS mounted on a boat or handheld?

Most GPS/Charplotters for boats have a TRACK feature that will essentially record position incrementally leaving a line on the screen. My unit in particular does allow the saving of my tracks to memory. I think most of the better hand held GPS devices have this feature as well.

Does this answer your question?

Yes, GPS will hold up to a certian amount of waypoints. (locations) I believe All do this.

Waypoints/favorites/locations: 500 This one to the left is just a inexpensive on from Garmin

one thats mounted to the boat, that my lap top could work with. thanks

Hix,

look around on the net for microsofts steets and maps with the usb GPS sensor.its Waas and DGPS.the sensor will work on any laptop, just install the drivers from the ms streets and maps.get the ms 2007 or 8 edition, you can find them on ebay or craigslist for under $40

Delorme makes some pretty slick USB GPS receivers.

Add whatever software you want or just log it via hyperterminal.

I use TOPO! with either a Magellan GPS315 on foot or when lugging the laptop isn't an option, or a Garmin LT-20 for the vehicle or with the laptop. Both older equipment, but has worked well for a few years.

With the Magellan I U/L the waypoints and tracks to TOPO and make my annotations on the maps to save. Locations from Google Earth or other sources can be palced on a map and D/Led to the GPS for future hunts. TOPO will let you display streets if you like.
