What is nice about finding Bells is that they hit hard...Missing them is nearly impossible and finding them is a treat. With the many different sizes and shapes , trying to identfy them is not to difficult. Made of white metal, copper and brass and ever iron they can be identified with markings on the inside of some , and with numbers and letters on the outside of others... One of the bells was a nice find and I was very happy when I saw the markings on the front ,it was a frog and it may have been used for a welcome bell in some old boarding house or Hotel. The site where I have found it was very large with a number of out buildings....many of the other bells were found around and near some of the old foundations and Cellar holes I have hunted...
The very large Sleigh Bell was found at the 2 Old Cellar hole site which I have discussed in the Todays finds recently ! I hope you enjoy the Bells !!!! have a Great Day !!! Seeker ;D

Only bells I have found sofar, are some that come from a wind chime we used to have on the porch...
Good luck, & Happy hunting~

I haven't found many here in Germany, a piece of one and a whole bell but damaged, still had the ringer in it. Very nice collection of bells! HH, Mike

Funny you should post this as I just found my first bell this weekend. I was wondering if you know anthing about it. I was from a site dating back to the mid 1800s. The initials on it are WFB or WEB...hard to tell. Anyway, looks like you have done your share of detecting. ;D

This post is a BELL RINGER pal.

I've found very few bells in my day.

I love these especially those related to early America.

Speaking of "early America," I know a man in Michigan Upper Peninsula who found an ancient float copper (Copper Culture) bell while looking for raw float copper.

It was about 6,000 years old. Now that's an old bell! Those Copper Culture TRUE Native Americans were awesome people.

Thanks for posting your great pictures.

That is some collection, Seeker! :o So many for what seems to be so rare. Thank you for sharing and the pics!

HH!
