At this point they should have just waited for the 100th anniversary to change the design. Im sure they'll do something.
I'm surprised too. 2032 will be 300 years since his birth. Maybe they'll do something special in ten years. I'm not crazy about this design.
Not much of a change except he's facing right.
I wonder why they have him facing right ?
I guess there will be 5 different designs on the reverse of this year's quarters . I have found 2 with Maya Angelou on the back.
Still, nothing new will beat an old 1964 or earlier 90% silver quay piece found in the ground. That will always be a welcomed thrill.
Happy Hunting !!

"jewelerguy",
I notice yours is a D, mine is a P and my date & mint mark aren't as sharp and clear as yours. What's on the reverse of yours?

About time they gave Laura Gardin Fraser the credit she deserved. Took 90 years. They also used this design on the 5 dollar gold commemorative coin issued in 1999. Washington looks a hell of a lot tougher here than on the one we've endured for years. I hope they used her eagle on the reverse, too.

the reverse of mine is Maya Angelou

I got one of these in change on Feb. 5. I was surprised since they were released the last week of January.

In this day in time I'm surprised he wasn't sporting a man bun.
Or some tats and piercings....jeez, can't we come up with good looking coins anymore?
