It's finally cooled off at the jersey shore so I beat the brambles for an hour. Almost every signal you hit in the woods is a shotgun shell from all the duck hunting years ago, and I almost passed up this cute little relic, as it read exactly the same, but just sounded a little sweeter. Total haul was a humble field arrow point, a colonial coat button, and this little cuff button in need of loving care. It seems to be a GI 70 cuff button.

John, I have noticed that Albert's does not list quite a few cuff sized buttons, so no big deal if it is not listed, just considered it a variant of the regular sized ones. Nice going on getting it, despite the condition. I got out this morning and was searching for a new possible homestead, but the thich underbrush made me decide to wait till later in the year. I did spend about an hour at a nearby site I have pounded over the years and got three more buttons. Believe it is about 20+ for me and an good amount for my son, however, I have no old coins from the site, and I believe he has only one Large Cent. It might have been cherry picked years ago, since the button to coin ratio is way out of whack for most of our sites.

Nice weather this afternoon, without a doubt........

Thanks Don, I was considering taking a couple pics of the "Jersey briars" because I doubt anyone who hadn't seen them would believe them! They're like natural constantina wire. The only thing that keeps them down are the deer. I would have stayed longer, but I saw a faint "U.S." under the dirt and totally forgot about the 1820's issue when I was out there. I wanted to get home and clean my "one of a kind U.S. rev war in brass without the "a" button." Ha! ha! ;D Anyway, at least today confirmed for me once again that we have to dig those darn shotgun signals. :D
