Got out a little today....................

LOL.... at the end of a grueling day a good cold brewski is not a bad thing..... BUT I wouldn't drink butwiper beer even if it was free.......

When I was in Anchorage I had the fun and pleasure of having dinner and taking in a show at the Fly By Night Club on Spenard....

One of the things I remember was their extensive beer menu.... a lot of the rest is a little foggy.....:laughing7:

At the end of the list was budwhizzer and it cost $1.00 more than any other beer on the menu.... With the statement that if you didn't have any better taste than to drink bud you deserved to pay more.......:laughing7:

Well I finally made it up to Cape Disappointment.............
Haven't done the cleanup yet but here are a few pics of the trip.

Well I finally got the preliminary cleanup done... just letting it dry so I can weigh it later, also there is still more but it is extremely fine so I will probably just do a borax firing in the furnace.

I'm looking forward to going back up there.... Not sure when that will be but I hope to again soon.
I have a couple minor changes I will make but small and easy to do.
Will definitely improve production as this is the result of about 3.5 hours work and maybe 10 buckets of sand.
Most of the work was trying to keep the reservoir cleared out of sand and of course replenishing the water level.

OK... Got the main cleanup done and weighed..... 1.52 gram.
There is still a little that is so fine and hard to deal with I will just borax it but that will happen much later.

There's a fair amount of gold in the sand, it just takes a lots of patients and persistence.
Nice job!

Will do my cleanup this weekend to see what we got.
Worked a couple hours on Friday and a couple on Saturday.

We had this event here in Sweden this weekend. Had the opportunity to try out my semi 3D printed sluice / highbanker. Was surprised how well the mats catched Gold. Will do some changes to the mats and hopper till next time, but overall I am happy with the results :)

I got most of the material cleaned up ... Still have little bit of finish panning to do But the tally isn't as good as my first trip.
Looks like I will get just a little over 1 gram estimated when I get everything finished up.
So far I have this.

I got the finish panning done and now just letting it dry so I can weigh it....
Looks like 3-4 grain which will put the total just over a gram........
Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.....

OK.... Got the final cleanup weighed...... Gave me a total of 1.108 gram.......

Well I may have to reevaluate summer beach mining.
I went up to my little beach that is only 15 miles from home and took a look.
Yes the blonde sands have covered the dense black sand layers but what I saw was on these small drifts there was a thin layer of wind blown black sand.
I did not take any pictures today nor any equipment...:BangHead:.
I am thinking about heading back up tomorrow or Sunday to grab a few more samples. I will get some beach pics as well.

Anyway here is what I found ..... a small potato chips bag (single serving size) that was left by some conscientious beach goer..:censored:.. So I rescued it for a sample to bring home.
I ran the slightly more than a pint of material through the gold cube and here is what I got....... I did not really expect to see anything so this really amazed me.
So like i said I am going to go get a bit more material and see if I get similar results or if this was just a fluke.
The gold cube was clean because I had washed out the top tray and the 2nd and 3rd trays had new mat in them... First run for those so I don't believe it was from past runs.

Anyway here's the gold.... still waiting for it to dry to weigh but my guess is approx. 1/2 grain

Wow, that’s a great sample. Maybe scrape a section where it windrows along a crease in the sand or along a log or such.
Raining here today a little ways south of you.

Mike

OK.... I got back up to my little beach this morning and got about 5 gallons of sand.
I will run this tomorrow since I have some remade plans for this afternoon.
This will or should prove out if the summer and this sand is legit or it was just a fluke regarding what I did yesterday.
I made two trips to get the approx 5 gal...... I am not the young strapping lad that I used to be.... Besides as we age we learn to work smarter... Not harder.....:laughing7:... Or we are supposed to anyway.

Looks good! Can't wait to see the results.

The results were better than I really expected but not as good as I had hoped for.
Still from 5 gallons of wind driven sands it may be an indicator of what winter will bring after the storms have consolidated it a bit .

As to yesterdays take. I have come to the conclusion that most of the gold was from the top tray of the gold cube......
The 2nd and 3rd trays had never been run since I put the new deep V mat in them so nothing came from those two.

I try to do a good clean up but there will always be some residual gold between the edges of the mat and the tray... Just can't be avoided. Today I really cleaned the trays with a fine but high pressure stream so I am pretty confident that is all there is.

So here it is.... My estimate is a little less than 1 grain .....

Well my estimated weight was a little off.
I only got .30 grains.
