Well I may have to reevaluate summer beach mining.
I went up to my little beach that is only 15 miles from home and took a look.
Yes the blonde sands have covered the dense black sand layers but what I saw was on these small drifts there was a thin layer of wind blown black sand.
I did not take any pictures today nor any equipment...

.
I am thinking about heading back up tomorrow or Sunday to grab a few more samples. I will get some beach pics as well.
Anyway here is what I found ..... a small potato chips bag (single serving size) that was left by some conscientious beach goer..

.. So I rescued it for a sample to bring home.
I ran the slightly more than a pint of material through the gold cube and here is what I got....... I did not really expect to see anything so this really amazed me.
So like i said I am going to go get a bit more material and see if I get similar results or if this was just a fluke.
The gold cube was clean because I had washed out the top tray and the 2nd and 3rd trays had new mat in them... First run for those so I don't believe it was from past runs.
Anyway here's the gold.... still waiting for it to dry to weigh but my guess is approx. 1/2 grain
