The tag was found on a trail behind where there once stood a 1702 home of the son of the founding father of Tyngsborough. Some places you will see the town spelled Tyngsboro. Which is incorrect. It is called Tyngsborough because in 1661 it was the borough of Edward Tyng. The town was then named after Mr. Tyngs son Colonel Jonathan Tyng who was the original owner of the 1702 homestead.YEAH! That is a great find!!
The dog tag book currently has 1951 listed as the oldest known tag from TYNGSBORO Mass. I am 100% sure that is the same place, however, the listing in the book will Stay that way and we'll add 1936 TYNGUSBOROUGH Mass as a new listing!
THANK YOU for the report!
Tyngsboro is incorrect.
