Yes the St. Charles variety is found in N.E. Texas, E.Tex & W.La. I have been in the water on the Sabine river and saw one dredged up while grubbing and it was given the thumbs up by German when taken to a show Texas...Very nice.
Are St. Charles point found in Texas much?
I don't know William M German, nor of his authentication service, but the 3rd COA list the source as "From the Mike Nichols Auction."
A word of caution, if the seller was Mike Nichols Auctions 215 S. Main Street Warren, AR 71671, in my view, some of those items listed could be questionable.
Not saying yours are, but this auction house is one flagged as a known seller of reproductions.
I am advocating caution is all. It's "Buyer Beware"
How many authentic platform pipes are floating around, yet this auction house has multiples every sale.
I could go on here, but will not.
I am sure there will be some "armchair quarterbacks" who will blast me, but that the way it goes.
Caution is the word.
I had 10 killers stolen from an authenticators mailbox before the postman picked them up and scanned them. They were all points I found over the last 40 years or so. It hurts for sure.Nice 👍 If I sent any of mine to get authenticated I would be a nervous wreck thinking they would get "lost" in the mail.
I too have purchased auction items that were modern. That is a chance you take. As I started selling off parts of my collection, i feel it's only fair to get artifacts I didn't find myself authenticated prior to selling them to an unsuspecting and trusting person. Plus if you sell a modern it will create a hassle in the artifact community that I don't need after 40 some years of good relations with all.Very nice.

That's great, but they usually won't take them at shows. You still need to send them.If I have anything that needs Authenticated, I wait and bring them to the bigger shows in Texas.
Bill and Carlos are at most of them and Dwain is always at the Annual Temple Show.
I disagree. They've ALL been fooled at some point or another, I don't care who they are. They're Pro's in the faking business just like everything else.I too have purchased auction items that were modern. That is a chance you take. A good authenticator can tell modern from prehistoric. As I'm getting too old to go on weekly digs anymore, I'm doing this more these days.
