I havent been out in forever due to pnemonia and the weather taking a turn towards winter so I decided to get out today before I cant again. First, I hit up the field where I found the Barber half this past summer. Pulled a wheat penny and the old military button (need to figure out what kind). After the field, I decided to go back to the yard where I found all of the Buffalo and V nickels. First target was a heartstopper for a second, 1909 wheatie minus the S. Ended up with three more Indian head pennies, another Buffalo nickel and two old rings. On my way back to my car I decided to hit one last spot in the yard that I havent done yet and got a solid 12-47 on the Etrac. I figured it was a modern quarter because it was right beside a flower garden that was put in recently. Once I flipped the plug, out popped a 1897 Barber quarter. This year gave me my first Barber dime, quarter and half dollar.

The barber quarter, ive yet to get one yours is very nice! and the indian tribe to go along with it ! Nice job !

I been feeling like I am going to find my first barber quarter, before each hunt I even visualize it.

I had some bad luck last night. I got a deep 71 reading which usually is a zinc penny but could be an indian.
I dug down and popped a perfect plug . the coin was in the plug on the edge and had a big scratch down the
center? It was night and I can't see just a clad coin the size of a nickel with the big scratch. I thought I had
centered the target how could I miss so bad? Anyway the 71 signal was still in the hole and turned out be an
old earring of some sort. The one side is aquamarine but the backside is totally rusted out. Basically trash.
I get home and the coin is a very worn buffalo. Usually the buffalo is a 46 not a 71. The darn trash 71 masked out
the buffalo completely.

Congrats on your first Barber Quarter. I'm glad to hear that you are feeling better
I noticed that we are neighbors
I'm new to Port Allegheny, so if you ever want to get together for a hunt, just send me a P.M.

I'd be pleased with a day like that. Congrats!
