I initially went looking to gold pan and make a youtube video but all the holes were pretty much cleaned out. And since we have not had any flooding or decent rain none of the pockets have filled back up. So I took a break then decided to try to detect the spot. This place is known locally as "The Slab" and is well used public access point to the Llano river. I did not dig every target as there is an insane number of beer bottle caps here. I dug for a while and found a few coins and the all too common pull tabs. Then I went to check out this one little hill that looked like it may have been a sand castle. I got a screaming hit off of it. I started to dig using my rock hammer. The granite sand here sets up pretty hard after it gets wet. After starting the hole I first found a nail, then an old sparkler. Then saw a beer can in the side wall of the hole. I pulled the can out using the hammer and then caught the glint of gold out of the corner of my eye. At first I though it was probably foil off a cigarette box or something but I picked it up anyways and realized that it was solid. My second thought was that it was a toy ring but after closer inspection I realized that it is supposed to be a snake and on the inside it is marked “10K MEX”. I got lucky on this one as I don't think the detector had picked it up and it must have been right next to that can. The ring is in the video right at the end.

Congrats on your gold ring and other finds!

After looking at the ring for a while and trying to figure why it was coiled up I have come to the conclusion that it had to of been on someones Dread locks.IMG_2025.JPG
