Got G O L D? Got S I L V E R?

I DESIRE plenty of things, doesn't mean that you need them :laughing9:

I wonder how gold will fill your hunger.. I forgot, you will use it to buy food.. I just hope you run into people that desire that more than many do. When push comes to shove, gold will be as useless as a gun with no bullets... Unless of course you can use, or sell it as a paperweight :laughing7:

Maybe what we have here is a disagreement of degrees... :laughing7:

I personally do not see the entire society of the US or world degenerating into a "Mad Max" scenario of total anarchy...

More a gradual decline in which the awareness of the superior buying power of gold and silver vs fiat paper money will be more keenly sharpened in the general public's mind as time progresses... :sign13:

As a matter of fact, I predict here and now that your mind will be sharpened ever so slightly as time goes forward and you see the purchasing power of your paper money dwindle into oblivion... :notworthy:

Someday, we will be in great agreement :icon_sunny:

I completely agree with Randyman. Spart is going past the end of civilized government to when complete anarchy reigns the world.. It is a degree that justifies weapons, ammunition and heirloom seeds. Funny how some people jump to the end and pass all the midpoints to try and make a point..
That makes the conservatives the optimists doesn't it?
Does that mean that weaponry is your hoard of choice Spart?

Dave44, as far as weapons, I have all the rubber bands and paper clips to get me through the toughest of times. I don't own any firearms, and have no need for them either. Unfortunately, most discussions of this type do end up going the "Mad Max" scenario and I'm not a believer of that either.

Let's look at it from a practical perspective. I see no real value in the metal.. Yes, there are people that do and bless them.. Now with gold being 1,500/per ounce, how many ounces do you tend to buy? Let's say 10 ounces to be conservative, that's $15,000. What happens if the market for gold drops drastically, to even 500/per ounce.. You stand to lose 10,000 on a speculation. You are actually trying to hedge the commodities market, and that will not be a winning game for you. These companies will sell you the gold like silly at today's price, and be there to buy it back once the price falls... What do you think their money is riding on....

Something no one answered yet, is why isn't anyone buying platinum :dontknow: You so worried that you can't buy gold, yet platinum is way more valuable. :icon_scratch: Just a thought ;D

Many do invest in platinum is the same reason more of the big boys see gold and platinum as better than silver when looking for a safe haven. However, gold traditionally tends to be associated with preservation of wealth by the general public. Both are among the rarest metals on earth and since silver and platinum have many more industrial uses than gold it tends to be the one that is most often thought of when most think of monetizing a paper currency...at least, thats the way it has been for centuries.

But, by all means, buy some platinum if that is the noble metal that does it for you! :sign13:

We may not have seen gold this high before, but we have seen steep increases before. And it has "always" come back down, and it will again. How high will it go = speculation. When will it come back down = speculation. Many will lose, fewer will win. Always been that way, always will be. The real questions are; When to stop buying? And when and if to start selling?

PS: which by the way, I have no idea of either. I could only speculate. :dontknow:

My thought is that not in our lifetime, or in our childrens' lifetime, are the people of India, China and the asia and arabic countries going to cease buying gold.

Platinum is only about $150 more than gold right now.
Pretty much everyone on Earth knows what gold is, not everyone knows what platinum is.
