Funny how things go, went out to hit a site after the rain, on the way I took a detour. Found two brokes in a spot that has produced very lightly. Between the detour and the intended spot I decided to take the creek instead of the path, never found so much as a flake in the Creek before but I figured it had been a while. Right where I dropped in this scraper was sitting just off the bank. The rest of the creek went like it always did nothing but mud and sticks, the site I mean to hit all along produced about 3 small flakes.
The material is very local flint, which would hint at woodland but the style to me just has my gut thinking it could be older. It’s definitely the largest scraper I’ve found so far. Also interesting to see such a well shaped tool with cortex.
