I got 13 all last year. Beat that already. I was just sitting here wondering what a reasonable goal for the year would be here in SW Michigan. 50 maybe? I thought they had gotten harder to find over the last 20 years, but I'm doing just as good as I ever did since I started back up last year.

These 3 (1880, 1897 and 1906) came from a small town high school site that had the building torn down decades ago. The square now has a fire station, town hall and tennis court on it. There is one small area in the back corner that still has a half dozen large maple trees on it. That is the only place left to hunt. It is about 30 yards square. I know guys who were hunting this back in the 70s. It has been absolutely hammered over the years. I hit it back then with my Whites 6000-D and didn't get anything. Today, the Deus II proved how much superior it is to weeding out good signals in the junk. The site is really trashy.



I don't know what the deal is with 1897. I got 2 out of 13 last year and 3 out of 15 so far this year. Where are the 1878s? I was 3 years short yesterday with the 1875 and 2 years over today with the 1880. I'm zeroing in on it. Fingers crossed that this will be the year for my 1877 and 1878!

Great finds, was a great day to be out in Michigan. I have been researching some of the one room schoolhouses in my area. Wife went to one of them but the property is now an old apple orchard. Looking for owner of old house next to it so I can get permission.
