Despite food poisoning and my better judgement, I got out with my buddy Steve (Triplenipple555) to one of his sites, and one of my own sites. It was totally worth it, and even found one of my best condition large cents to boot. Here’s some of the finds. I’ll add more soon since I’m still off my feet...

Anybody that has info on the “R” is welcome to chime in. It could be from a cartridge pouch but that’s just a guess. Anyway, thanks for looking and good hunting.

A neck stock made of the silver variety went banner years ago. Dont remember many, if any, others. Nice dig

Really like that buckle! Great job!

Pretty awesome. I always appreciate you helping me with ID’s Anton. Hopefully you’ll get yourself to my neck of the woods soon. Thaw season soon for 4, go get ‘em!

That was my thinking but the letter R looks like 19th century styling. A friend of mine sent me these examples of box plate lettering View attachment 1810755
Well, I don't know if I would call it 19th century style lettering. Here are two Hartley's regiment buttons (Rev War). I dug the one on the right and my buddy dug the one on the left at the same site.. Look at the R.

That neck stock buckle is fantastic, and the Large Cent looks mint. You hardly see neck stock buckles intact and complete. Your buckle has that and a whole lot more.

Great finds! I'm a butt. guy (that's short for button btw) so my eye goes to the nice uh button. Can't beat the buckle, beautiful. The key to the R is the back of it. Hopefully you get an ID.

Great bunch of finds

The outlook looks good so far. If COVID doesn't change my plans, should be opening my season pretty soon.

of all the large cents I've found I've only found one that's similar. ground has to be perfect for one to come up like that. Awesome condition.
