Goofy Tree I came across today.

It really looks like the Indian Trail trees. It does not go back to the 1600s but if it is near an Indian Camp ground it could have been done by some one with in the last 45 +- years to "add" to the camp ground. But it is in the shape of what the indians did to give you directions to..... where ever. You can find them all over the US. There is a site that is mapping them. Nice find.
 

We used to break saplings like that as kids to mark trails. I imagine that could be a survivor.
 

After reading this post and doing some online research into what an Indian Trail tree. I have to agree with that conclusion. Maybe a more modern one but that sure does look like what it is.

A cool find for sure.
