Anyway, I decided to get off the couch for a little while today. Went up to my favorite spot even though it was cold and windy. I wasn't there long but decided to go over some spots a small dozer had been in this past week and miraculously pulled out a Morgan dollar, 2 dimes and 3 minie balls. It's a multiple use site, and there's stuff from the Revolution there all through the present day.

BUT...I could barely walk back to the truck, so I guess my doctor was right. My knees and lower spine are now going fast, this has been a real bad winter although it hasn't been that cold and I suppose I have to face the fact my detecting career is almost over...

Rats and double rats...stuff is still in the truck. I had to get warmed up and take some more medicine, which doesn't really work either. Double rats.

Smokey, hasn't been one of your best weeks.. A few days of warm sunshine, not too far away, should do the trick!

Hey Smokey congratulations on the Morgan Dollar and hurts my heart to hear you’re in pain. As my dear mother used to tell me,”growing old is a *****”.

Smokey you’re the real treasure [emoji890]

Warmer weather will help I'm sure so Soldier on....

And Congratulations on those nice finds!

Thanks. Cats were STARVING...they hadn't been fed since 11 pm...so got me up at 4! Dear sweet things. Now I know why it's said you should NEVER mess with post menopausal smokeythecats!

It is one of their burdens in life to remind us who is really in charge. That may require knocking over and whacking around some items we carelessly left out the night before, like glasses, coins, relics, batteries, Christmas decorations, any fragile or essential small part of something...They do a wonderful job of educating us about the various sounds these different things make as they are knocked around the house. And when all else fails, there is always jumping on the head...

And then, when you do serve them with all the grace of a good wine steward in a fine restaurant, they will look at your selection of a healthy, organic, grain-free selection with the disdain indicating "do you really expect us to eat that?"

Smokey congrats on the great hunt! I hope we get to see some pictures. Wishing you the best.

Meg, did you have a camera on here last night. Smokey started knocking random stuff off the counter next to me to make SURE I knew the food dish was empty!

Isn't it amazing how we have learned to identify objects by the sounds they make when being knocked over and whacked around by cats? And it is a free education they provide so magnanimously.

Truly sorry to hear about the pain you're experiencing. Aches and pains are no fun but are just about inevitable as we get older. Whether people are professional athletes or just regular folks who use a metal detector there comes a time when we have to hang it up for good and it's as if as if a part of us has died. Though I'll be turning 74 before the next hunt season begins I've been fortunate to not have any of those pains yet but I know that the day is coming and probably soon. In the meantime do what you can to enjoy this great hobby. Congrats on the silver finds.

Signal line, I'm allergic to the joint supplements and all fish and shellfish! Here's a pic of the Morgan. It's quite black, I'm wrecking it getting it not black. IMG_1364.JPG

Me, too. But not allergic to wild salmon oil. Omega-3 very good for your joints. So many health benefits can't list them all. You can shop around and find one bottle for under $20 lasts a long time.

Starts at 3:30 on this video.

We’re a tough as nails bunch.
Continued success

Wow! Love the black patina on the Morgan. Whatever process you used seems to have unveiled a perfect amount of silver to pop through the black. That’s my favorite look for a dug silver. I have only had 2 coins come out perfectly black like that. Any mint Mark? Pic of obverse?

BTW, That’s another top shelf find. You have been on fire with your gold coin, CSA plate and now the Morgan. You just need the gold coin to move off the banner to make room for your next epic find.

Hope you heal up and can get out there soon to finish off that spot.

Huge congrats!!!

I got a Walker today at my HOUSE! Does that count??? Was trimming dead stuff off trees and took the Deus up there and it blew my ears off!

Here's the Walker. I found probably 75 coins of the same period on the TOP of the hill, it has a lot of dark toning also.IMG_1367.JPG

So sorry to hear about the health issues. That sounds so frustrating. I guess there is always coin roll hunting but somehow it doesn't seem nearly as satisfying as digging up old relics and coins that haven't been seen in hundreds of years. I hope the warmer weather brings you comfort and pain relief.

Hang in there Smokey. I hope you feel better soon and can continue detecting.
