Anyway, I decided to get off the couch for a little while today. Went up to my favorite spot even though it was cold and windy. I wasn't there long but decided to go over some spots a small dozer had been in this past week and miraculously pulled out a Morgan dollar, 2 dimes and 3 minie balls. It's a multiple use site, and there's stuff from the Revolution there all through the present day.

BUT...I could barely walk back to the truck, so I guess my doctor was right. My knees and lower spine are now going fast, this has been a real bad winter although it hasn't been that cold and I suppose I have to face the fact my detecting career is almost over...

Rats and double rats...stuff is still in the truck. I had to get warmed up and take some more medicine, which doesn't really work either. Double rats.

Congrats on your finds today! Sorry to hear about your body being in pain. I’ll pray for you.

maybe you can manage to beach hunt in the summer , my pain level is less when it's hot out. I've been in pain for over 60 years so I know how it can be.
I started being treated by an osteopath at age 6 and have had corrective surgery as an adult . as an infant my dad thought it was a good idea to take a pic of my sister and I on a Gettysburg cannon . we both fell off and my sister who was 6 broke both arms trying to save me. I can not recall a day not in pain . some way ,some how you must keep moving or you will go down hill before your time. I truly wish you the best and hope to see more of your amazing finds for years to come..

Smokey, Congrat's to you on some nice finds. I'm there with you my friend. I try not to complain and Thank the Good Lord that I'm still able to get around. I'm turning 64 next month and I have had both hips replaced, I have arthritis in my power middle back, and my knees bother me a little at times. It's getting a little harder to get up and down sometimes and I use my T handle shovel especially for pushing myself back up. But we can't give up just yet. Whenever I feel myself a little low, I remind myself that somewhere there are folks that have it a lot rougher than I do. Prayers said for you and I and all the other hunters that we can continue to hunt as long and as pain free as possible. There is still some cool stuff out there that needs to be found, saved, and preserved.......like Relics. Keep on Keepn' on.

That spot just keeps giving. Very Nice!!! Congrats!!! Sorry about Your health. Hopeful it comes back!

That Morgan dollar must have been a surprise! Congrats on getting out and continuing to move around to enjoy life. I too wonder about the potential advantage of warmth. I suspect you've tried all sorts of heating pads on yourself? (if they don't help you, the cats will love them - set on low).

Congratulations on your finds. I'm the same way in winter. The bones and joints just don't work as well. We just have to slow down while hunting. In a way that's a good thing. Good luck to you.

The cats need you, but do they also knead you? Wonder about the therapeutic (massage) value of cat kneading and if they can be directed to sore areas...Please let me know if I should incorporate this into Buddy's training, as he shows great promise so far in kneading the air, and all surfaces. My cats will always knead on certain fabrics.

Hmmm... there’s a wrench for every nut, and a solution for every problem... my mother in law never did heal right after a hip replacement, and the poor girl’s hobbled along but lately it’s gotten worse. The kids chipped in and we got her a mobility scooter (yes, i put the flames on it). I’m thinking Smokey... off-road capable mobility scooter, mud tires, extra battery, rig holder, the works! (And kitty basket). Ddf

No, the cats "need" you. And me. Spring is almost here. Thanks all. I suppose I should waddle out to truck and get the stuff out of it.

Sorry to hear about your hunting career being almost over. After 38 years of a awesome hobby mine has started to wind down for the last few years because of being in hospital for surgeries because of cancer. So I don’t get out to hunt very much and I can sympathize with you and Devldog. I did get my first gold ring of the year and returned it to the owner. Congrats on the Morgan.

Congrats on the finds and hate to hear about your health. I worked at an feed store years ago and a lot of people came in to buy horse liniment oil. Most of these people didn't even own horses so I asked a customer one day what they used it for. They said it worked wonders for aching joints. If you have a local equine store or a Tractor Supply near by you might give it whirl. Hope you get to feeling better and HH!

Sorry to hear your hurting. As someone who has also had to slow way down, I know how it is and not so easy to accept. But, I always say getting older sure beats the alternative...
Hang in there my friend.

It seemed like Spring here today with hundreds, more likely, thousands, of robins. The lawn was full of them and every branch had a load of them. I went out with my binocs and wondered if I was hearing it start to rain - but it wasn't water coming down. Somehow they managed to miss me, so I'm back on tnet to get pooped on here figuratively if not literally...

I can see you’ve got 2 problems Kitty Cat. The first...cold weather is NEVER good for an ailing body, and the second...your medicine ain’t nowhere NEAR potent enough. I don’t know how to fix either one, but I hope you get it sorted out. NOT detecting isn’t an option, and you know it.

Sorry to hear of your pain, I will add you to my prayer list! :icon_thumleft:

I decided to get hard headed and go outside and get my Amazon package off the front steps, Thank God for Amazon!, the coins out of the car and I took a 3 tine rake and walked up the little slope behind my house to pull some dried sticks and stuff that could go "woof" in flames if another jerk throws out a cigarette butts and it catches on fire. I just had someone take down a dying spruce tree and didn't want the underbrush left intact. So, I managed to get the sticks to the bottom of the hill, gravity works, and now I think I is a gonna die! Ow!

It will be ok. Unfortunately, the kinds of medicine that would make it 100% better I'm severely allergic too. The worse place is in the spine, and that frankly cannot be fixed. Had a neurosurgeon tell me that. That's where the cats do the best. I set the hot water heater on "cook" and the one black cat comes in and paddles in the water for me.

Maybe I should buy a dozer to take with me digging:notworthy: Actually, I have used heavy machinery before. Small backhoes are my favorite! Been about 5 years since I rented one. Coins and minies are in the house now. Must clean and take pics.

I enlisted someone to help me go back to the silver spot and dig it out. I feel much more secure having someone with me...

Smokey, Have you tried acupuncture for pain yet? My acupuncturist brought me back to functioning after years of bad lower back pain, bent over walking and dragging my right leg. There are lots of "acupuncturist" out there that aren't very good, so look for a licensed, certified one and give it a try. Good Luck!
