Back in the 40's / 50's, carnivals., and fairs, and public places had machines that you could put what ever letters you wanted on them
The token was just blank around the edges, and you typed in your names, or words, I love you's, what ever , some were used for political stuff, advertisement Etc. Etc.
and it would stamp them on the token
I have found quit a few, and every one is different
Some had coins in the center too
Cool to find for sure though
