Remember when I found the cap and ball pistol cylinder,

The next day I found this what-zit?

You won't believe it!!!!!

Look close.... Do you see it

I didn't,,,, UNTIL my friend Squishy at tha Friendly Forum
said;

" I really like the leg iron too!! I wonder what the story is
behind that? Escaped convict busted it off while on the
run? Blood hounds hot on his heels? There goes the old
imagination again! Ha Ha! "

I thought he was crazy, until I cleaned it up a little and
looked it up.

I found this set of Circa 1855 leg shackles on the internet.
They were possibly used during the civil war or for the
slave trade,

Here is a better look at the lone leg shackle I found,

Watch what you throw away folks.

If I didn't, I would have chunked this one.

Hey I'll give it a first prize in the different category. I do like the different, afterall isn't that what makes the hobby so interesting ? I know it is a very BIG part of it for me. Don't get me wrong I do like coins, but unless you luck out and get a rare date, they're kinda same old, same old.

Glad you kept it. We used to play at an old plantation. One of the service buildings was full of shackles. We thought it was spooky. Grew up and went back and the place was dozed away.
Nice finds. Good recovery !!
