The Goldfields I search have been known as the Wet Diggings as far back as the 1850`s. The ground is rock hard in summer and winter you need to dig with a bucket.. A group of freinds, ( Bottle Collectors ) digging a hole on the goldfields. I am taking the photos.

This is an American made Glass decanter, 1850`s.

It`s the mud that is detected to find coins, buttons, etc. I have found many things this way.

Cheers, Woolshed.

I too am a big fan of old bottles - can you show us these bottles cleaned up ?

Hi, I have no photos of the bottles after they were cleaned. This is the best that Could do.

Cheers, Woolshed.

Looks like agreat day out digging, and some very nice rewards for your efforts as well. The tall green bottle has a seal on it, can you make aout any thing on the seal to identify it?
ZDD

Many a gold digger eased away the aches and pains and lifted their "spirits" after days of mucking away in the goldfields. :occasion14:

Great bottles and dig. Hope there are nice hot showers close by, that's a whole lot of mud.

Wealthy folks pay a hefty sum for a mud baths and facial treatments at exclusive spa resorts. These gents have the good fortune to enjoy this free of charge!

...........and when that didnt work it was Opium:laughing7:

Finding a Professor Holloway's Pills and Ointment 1857 token in the same vicinity as the ceramic pot lid for the very same product, is exceptional fortune indeed!! :icon_thumright:

A few years ago, a nice token from the 1850's patterned after a U.S. $5 gold coin, surfaced on one of my digs: E. Lyon * 424 Broadway New York * Magnetic Powder & Pills * For Insects & Rats

Cool thing was, my friend and fellow digger, presented me with a matching Lyon's bottle at the end of the day, from his personal collection! :)

The E. Lyon token is near the top center of the following photo, and shows some evidence of original gold gilding.

All other accompanying finds are circa 1840's-1850's. :icon_sunny:
