Where does one start, how can you explain how some days every dig is something special?? My longest work day of the week is Sunday. I start on Saturday around 6:00PM, and usually finish by 8:00AM on Sunday. What made it worse was almost no sleep from Thursday on. Thursday was my daughters dance practice, then Friday her dance, ALONG with getting ready for her brothers graduation party/graduation.

So on Saturday night started my "normal" Sunday work, came home absolutely wiped out and was basically told by my girlfriend not to go to her sons graduation that sleep was necessary, and her son agreed. So off to bed and asleep.

Now, here's the reason for the post, around 3:00 on of my detecting friends called and had just found a 1974 troy ounce coin and asked to come check it out, then on the way there received another call that he'd just found a "Ike Dollar" and another troy ounce coin 2006 just about 1/2 inch deep. Getting there checked out the coins, one I have no idea what it is, the other an unusual find to say the least!! Somebody seems to have visited daddy's collection and sure daddy is not pleased!! In one day I went from 14 rings(which is more than I thought I'd find in a year) to 22gold rings. Cloud nine and came home cleaned the rings and crashed for a few hours before I posted.

I had planned on just going home to recover from a very long weekend, but was asked to get the detector out and swing. This place has produced five gold rings and some silver dimes in the past, so figured to stay a little and see what I could find. After about 20 minutes with 20 pull tabs and a cruddy memorial cent I was almost ready to quit and call it a day. My supposed last signal was going to be my last pulltab, but turned out to be a small 10k white gold ring, then a few more steps another 10 k ring, now I'm thinking "what the he@@ is going on here?? A clad dime brought me down a little to earth before finding ring #3, a 14k ring, then another, another, and when I finally decided to call it quits ended up with 6 10k rings, and 2 14k rings.

**These rings were found in a two hour period in a 20 X 40 ft area and not close together as my post might be misleading**

This has got to go in the "Best Of" area of Tnet!

I've never heard of someone pulling this many 10K/14K rings from an area of turf in one day!!

Wow! Nice going Jack! You are really on a roll with the gold rings this year.

I doubt the rings were lost by a thief, they weren't found close together, just in the same area. This area has been a playground sine the 50's and the area is complete trashy hunting, so is avoided my many who detect. NOW, the five silver American Eagles and the 1974 Exchange silver ounce I believe were lost by a child who found daddy's coin collection!! I didn't find any, but my friend who is using my backup Explorer gave me three of the four he found!!

Man that must of been pretty exciting! I know I would of been in shock if i got 8 gold rings in one day! Excellent job! Congratulations! :)

I'm still feeling a rush when I look at them, of course my daughter has claimed two, my girlfriend has claimed two others so I have to go to three rooms to check them all out. I've been back there three times with no luck, but who knows, the fourth time might be the next good day!

An amazing haul! Great, Great Job!

I'm puzzled and surprised about NO Silver rings. I've had the theory of a gold to silver ring ratio. For me that's about 1 gold for 6 silver ... so to see 8 gold and no silver is odd. That leads me to think that it might just be a loot drop (maybe 2 loot drops?).

Real interesting!

Joe, I've never had luck there with silver rings?? I have always thought I'd find more silver rings than gold, but this year(not counting the last couple days) I've got 22 gold rings and 6 silver rings, BUT this is not a normal thing for me because I have never found this many gold rings total in one year in 25 years of detecting, ever, but have had years where I've pulled 20+ silver rings, especially when I was stationed on a Marine Corps base in North Carolina in the mid 80's where I didn't have any pressure from other detectorists!! I'll enjoy the good years and survive the bad!!

OK...then another theory: I know silver is easier to find and so the easy stuff is gone. You, then found the difficult stuff. I know many early detectorists don't dig pulltab/nickel sounds.

How does that sound?

That's a good theory, but how about this, many still DON'T dig many of those signals. I can see the silver rings being found by other over the years, but with all the trash in the area it's been avoided alot as well!! I think silver rings are possible there if right beside some trash, and the easy picking are all but gone from most Parks now!!
