Did fairly well this weekend at the sales (after a thouroughly dismal last week). Found a decent amount of gold and silver jewelry. I did find a couple of outstanding items though. The first picture is two pair of Victorian era silver sash buckles ($2 a pair). Both are unmarked, but the heart shaped pair polished up like and sure looks like good American pre-Comstock coin silver. The other pair I believe to be Indian "white" metal. I'll have them both tested the next time I go to my scrap dealer. The second picture shows the gold and silver finds this week; there is a knife with a sterling handle and two sterling chains (one with a sterling St. Christopher's medal, and one with an interesting sterling Liberty Bell). There was also a 14k lite chain with an antique, tiny sterling English cross on it (the marks are very difficult to see, but definitely four stamps). Also there was a 69 gram 1/10 12k gold filled chain.
The last picture shows my weekly favorite. This is a Lord Elgin Golden Knight model watch that I bought for $15. The woman I bought it from said It was her father's and he was a jeweler and cleaned all his watches every year. I'm wearing it right now and it is in mint condition and keeps perfect time (21 jewel, analog winder cal.680). The Golden Knight model was Elvis Pressley's favored model and there are many pictures on the net of him wearing one. I've been interested in finding a Lord Elgin for a long time.

p.s. sorry about the picture quality. I've got to get a better camera.

Capt - Awesome finds all around - the sash buckles are especially cool. I was not previously familiar with that Elgin watch but I see why you were looking for one - it's a very nice looking watch.

Looks like you more than made up for last week. Those sash buckles are a really good find, but I can see why the watch is your favorite.

Nice finds. I like the watch. I didn't know the trivia about Elvis. My wife is a huge Elvis fan/collector. I'll run that piece of info. to her. I found a Lord Elgin Aquamaster a couple months ago, it had a Rolex crocodile band on it. I sold the band and still have the watch.

If the Aquamaster is running I might consider a trade. I love the sash buckles too. However, it took me a couple of hours to snap to what I had found in them, and I'd wanted a Lord Elgin for years. Here is a picture of the backs I should have included in my earlier post.

Wanted to add to this post. Always check your sources! In regards to a connection with Elvis and Golden Knight watches appears to be schetchy at best. I was repeating something I read on one of the vintage watch forums I ran across. Further searching only shows a link between Elvis and a Lord Elgin early analog digital model. It seems he preferred Omega and Rolex watches.

I've also done some checking on the sash buckles. Neither of them is magnetic and both test positive for silver, but the guy testing them said his test could only verify at least 50% or greater content.
