Denver Metro, Colorado
Detector(s) used
Whites MXT, Garrett Propointer
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
Just as night was falling and the sleet was starting last weekend, (before our snowy white weather hit and as all of Denver's football fans were awaiting the upcoming Super Bowl) I was squeezing in one last dig for bottles, coming up with only a cracked insulator, the wind blowing in the weather front and the sun already set, nearby street lights my only light source and the wind chill sending me to the car, and my detecting partner not wanting to give up without a good find, I continued detecting on my way to the car. The Denver alley area that was dug down 5-6 feet was the type of place where you dig everything. I got a jumpy pulltab signal. Shoved the shovel down and popped out a clump of dirt. The pinpointer was my eyes as it was getting darker. I pulled up a coin like object and could immediately see Cripple. Wow a Cripple Creek token! I squeezed it and the clump of dirt popped off the back and I could see a frog. I called out "token" and handed it over to my buddy for a better look. It's not brass and not aluminum, but a white metal. Here's what I saw:

Go Broncos! Cindy

Treblehunter, from where I dug this token, after 5 to 6 feet of ground scraped off, and other turn of the century objects dug in that vicinity like square nails, pocket watch parts, etc and tons of iron hits, I'm sure the token is not modern. It still looks more like nickel than any other type of metal. Thanks for your comment. It took me a minute to figure out "LC" as we don't see those around here. After saying that, maybe I'll find one on a stagecoach trail here in Colorado. Cindy

Hey, Cindy, Cool token for sure. I didn't know you posted on here. I haven't seen you since 2012 after the lake. I think the last time was when you invited me up to the museum in Golden. Thaks again as I had a great time. Hey CurbdiggerCarl, hope you both find a gold coin this year! Jeff

Cool Token! I was out there back in the summer, went through Denver going to Pueblo to see my Daughter and Grandsons. We went out Gold Camp road and into CC, then took Phantom Canyon Rd back into Cannon City. I Love The area, It is beautiful and makes for an adventure just driving through for sure. Thanks for sharing.
