Hoping to know more about this ring from the experts thanks! Found it where I have been finding all my items lately at an old military camp WWI Era on the border.

The style and look ... from my perspective leads to believe that this is a very old ring.

This has no sign of being "modern" in any way.

Well thank you AARC that would make sense with the area I found it in. This is my first gold ring and I don't know much about them...

Congrats on your first bit-o-gold...

If I were you I would schedule in a trip back to your spot asap.

I hate to say this, but when enlarging the photos it looks like the gold is flaking off indicating that it is a gold plated ring rather than a real gold one. This would also explain the lack of a carat mark in the ring.

DOH ! ! !

:/

I really should actually click and study more. :P

I assumed the OP had already determined that the ring was in fact gold.

Um... actually...

I just clicked on photo's... and after a quick look I would have to disagree with you Gunsil on this one.

I think gold.

A better shot of the prongs would help. It looks like all the prongs are brown at the tip which would be copper/brass under the plating.

This is indicative of "old gold"... especially old buried gold.

I can see a "sizing weld"... which is indicative of a real ring.

Rarely to never is a fake ring sized.

Remember... gold jewelry such as this will DOES contain copper.

Standard today... is as much as 30 percent in 14k.

I disagree, AARC. I have found several junk rings that have a sizing weld as you call it. Also, the sizing weld is brown.

Yikes haha I will get it tested... Maybe take it to a local jewler who is knowledgeable... Just kind of assumded it was real... Cleaned up very nicely after looking like it had been in the ground for a long time...

Well then... at least we all now know.

Your pictures did not reveal on my screen what obviously was revealed on others.

I cannot zoom without saving and opening in programs.

Sorry for the disappointment.

better luck next time.
