Got out to a few lakes today and had a great day. First lake was not that exciting, some new clad and a brass ring and the two keys. Second was better. First target was a merc, second was a wheat, third was the quarter. then the Garmin watch? Then the nice 14K ring, inscribed D.H. to W.K 6-7-58. Then the rosey. then the Sacagawea dollar, my first for the year. Third lake was a joke! Three zincolns. A good laugh and crossed it off my list.

This might be my 51'st gold ring. I still have to get one tested. Was a great day to play.

I sent an E-mail to the county I found the ring in. Just got a reply a few minutes ago. Absolutely no record of anyone with those initials being married on that day. To check all the counties in Michigan would be impossible. And then there is a fact they could have just been visiting Michigan and were married in another state.

I have never had any luck with a ring with initials and a date.

I called the Michigan archives and I would have to look at pages and pages of microfilm. I can't even search Michigan records on the exact day, month and year they were married. I can only try to match the initials with names. So I see absolutely no way to find these people.

Another great outing! Always enjoy your post and the treasures found!! I'm glad no one else likes drysuits, they don't help at all and tuff to get into...and when you have to go, well not good....:laughing7:

More nice finds! Congrats! I hope the ring turn out to be gold. You've got quite an impressive ring count going there!

I love your avatar I tried to kill the bug on my screen.LMBO

Me too! I caught the little crawler out the corner of my eye as I was scrolling through, and immediately reached out with my ringer to squash it! What a hoot!:laughing7: Nice one, Xraywolf!

Just had it checked. I was right to have it in my scrap brass pile. This is the third gold I have found that is very old and marked gold, but is in fact fake. So my 50 gold ring count stands. I do have 53 pieces of gold when you count the earring and the two grills.

You have more silver and gold booty than a pirate! Gonna call you "Cap'n Scuba"!

Maybe try Wayne County ?
Always has been the most populated county in the area with very few beaches itself, people have been going out that way to swim for decades, since roads were built to take them there.

Probably a hopeless task but odds are, whoever lost it, if not local, came from an immediate surrounding county. If its as simple as emailing and asking, I'd try a few more. Returning a ring possibly lost half a century ago would be epic, even if you might be returning it to heirs.
