I'm throwing this post together for all of the rookies that come to this thread looking for beginner information on gold prospecting all the time. I'll gather videos as I find them and then post them. Some of the videos are about panning, others about detecting, and some will explore various recovery methods. As well, some of them are just for the fun of seeing beautiful, sassy gold, and maybe the chance to explore a mine or two.

There's lots of gold panning videos out there, but if you're just starting out, this one has all the basics.

All the best,

Lanny

Here's another one on making a portable panning/sampling tub.

Interesting little still video that gives some visuals on various places gold gets hung up during floods, and some interesting shots of other places gold likes to hide, and the company gold likes to keep! Be sure to check out the very end of the video too.

All the best,

Lanny

These guys are having fun doing some underwater sniping. The video gets very interesting closer to the end. There's a nice shot of what gold looks like when you first discover it under that water.

It doesn't take a lot of money or equipment to get set up for this kind of prospecting.

All the best,

Lanny

This is one serious clean-up pan!! I'd love to have the problem they're having with that sucker/sniffer bottle!

All the best,

Lanny

If you ever get the chance to go to Nome to mine on the beach, this little video clearly shows what the ruby sand on the beach looks like. This video also shows the use of a wide beach box. I still have a bunch of the fine gold I got while I was in Nome--it was a great experience, with a great group of people.

All the best,

Lanny

I was just wondering if there is anybody near Knoxville tn that can point me to some spots to go panning
