This was found at the foot of vein Mt,below a abandoned turmaline mine, placer gold was great, this I kept as a specimen of the turmaline mine, but there is gold present, curious to know if they there for gold or turmaline, both I am sure.
Loco,
My guess would be the old timers were going for gold. Tourmaline is valuable if it's gemmy. Not sure about any other commercial value.
It appears to be a nice specimen with the small gold in the center of the piece. If it's gold(not doubting it is), a Falcon MD20 will go off on something that small.
I love to take those and slice an edge off and see what's inside. A lapidary blade will smear gold and make it more visible. It would be fun to get more of it and crush it for gold content while keeping the best piece for a show and tell specie.
