Primary Interest:
All Treasure Hunting
Today I found my first Gold Nugget.
At least im 99 pecent sure its gold,
it is soft and heavy and shines like gold.
I still need to clean it up and will take it to be tested tomarrow.

Ima so excited.

It was found in some roots and dark soil and I Almost gave up it was kinda hard to find.
but persistance paid off.
Ill have it weighed tomarrow as well.
its pretty good size and heavy for a small NUGGY.

UPDATE>
Took it in today and had it tested and he had a test kit for 18k and it was positive as at least 18K then he studied it under scope and said no signs of it falling from jewelry and that he was 100 % sure it was 24k and a real Nugget
It weighed in at 2.1 Grams
Value 55.00 to 60.00 bucks just for the Gold.

I guess you know where ill be heading soon as I can and this time ill have the XLT on prospect
thanks for looking

UPDATE NUMBER 2

So Here is the scoop after returning to search again....
I searched the ereah where i found the nugget and all I found was some sort of a twisted wire like light and hard but not aluminum
im thinking titainium. it was found about 4 or 5 inches from the nigget.
after showing the nugget to some prospectors they dont think nugget because of its appearance.
One of the things I noticed while digging there was that abvout the second inch down was a half inch thick grey sandy grity soil
So im thinking my Nugget may be melted gold teeth and the grey is cremation ashes. it was dumped in a spot over looking the ocean
i could be wrong but thats what im thinking it may be.
I have found someones remains from a cremation.
It doesnt kreep me out or bother me to find it, its just ashes
HOWEVER id in fact it is ashes from someone

DO I KEEP THE GOLD NUGGET OPR RETURN IT ?

And DID THEY USED THAT HIGH GRADE OF GOLD FOR TEETH. or maby it was a wedding ring...hmmm

I bet it read high on the VDI scale? :P ;) :D If so, I bet ya have some of that "yella gooold." :D

Imacoppanutt :P
The reson I dug it as I scanned it with my XLT i got a pull tab jewelry reading and then on another sweep got a penny dime reading and the a foil reading and it was a jumpy reading so I wanted to see what it was.
I was in Jewelry Beach mode.
Ill be going back today and searching in Prospect mode, I have never used that program so it will be interesting.
Ill do some scanns on my nugget first to know what im looking for
also im goind to set it at 4 inches in the ground and scan it to see those readings.

I had a couple more signals in the same erea within ten feet that I ignored and will be hitting those spots again and digging everything today.
Ill update to see if I find more gold.
If I do it may be hard to file claim because of the location.

nice find Nutt, lol your making feel bad I don't know how many times I let a wandering erratic signal pass thinking it was trash. Just goes to prove you have to dig it to know for sure. Again congrats on your find

I think ill do a poll on this matter in the voting booth.

OH my goodness, Ima! :D What to do? :D BUT...when one's ashes are being strewn, wouldn't they just be flurring in the wind, and itty bitty bits flying around and finally resting about in a large area? They wouldn't just be in one place, would they? ???

Congrats on your gold find. Nana :)

hmmmm interesting update again! Perhaps a wedding ring then...yet I would think it would be bigger if that was the case....could have been any piece of jewelry I guess if it were in fact, remains of someone. No clue how you would find out if it were true for sure though. Thanks for sharing....the rest of the story....with us! ;)

I am still believing it is a nugget. I talked to my brother yesterday, who used to live in that area and he said some old-timers talked about gold there.

I understand your moral dilemma but I would not consider putting it back. If it is ashes that were deposited then the wishes of the individual have been met. As mother earth reclaims what was once hers it becomes part of the circle again. If the supposed ashes had been released in a river and this was found downstream it wouldn’t be a concern or even thought of. You weren't digging in a cemetary or on native burial grounds.

Most gold demtal casting since the 1920 have consisted of between 50% and 75% gold alloyed with other noble metals.

Nice find.

Keep it. You put the effort into finding it. The "ashes" that you found might have been from the last forest fire, from someone's cooking grill, or may not be ashes at all. I think I would be back out there on a regular basis finding some more of that gold! Good luck!

no Human ashes are very Heavy like sand.

i pan a lot and often run into a gray gritty ,and clay like slicking's ,it is usualy the ancient stream bed material, sometimes consisting of water worn rounder rocks and aggrigates, close to the bed rock, sometimes in the bedrock.i know a stream in ga. that has nice gold but you will only find very small specks (colors) through much of the stream ,but if you do your homework and find the ancient (gray layer) you can find some nice sized pieces, its a lot of work to get to but the results can be impressive.go back follow the gray ,it might be worth it ,wouldn't you like to find some of it's buddies?brothers, sisters, or even big mama, and don't forget BIG DADDY!!!!!!!!!!! :icon_sunny:

Nice find, i was to the under standing that 24k gold was all most or pure.Pure gold melts at a low temperature and often spatters. The metoblic structrure and colour characteristics don,t change unless there are other elements or impurities present. If on the other hand the nugget is from a natural source by its colour clearly shows that other elements found with natural gold are present.Few are iron pyrite, copper, copper pyrite and there many more.Man-made, melted or natural pure gold is yellow.Could you get the name of the gold testing kit that can class the content of gold because i,m impressed by it.Most gold testing kits only test for the presents of gold.I have lived on a historic gold feild all my life and seen plenty of small nuggets and gold colour but never ever anything like this.Congrats kind of really rare type of pure gold and should be on the banner.

Since it doesn't creep you out, keep the gold. But I would go back to that site & say a small prayer anyways. Just in case!!! :angel7:

If indeed it is a melted gold tooth, just keep in mind that the person wasn't born with gold in his mouth and it is perfectly fine that you keep it.

I mean, it's not like you raided the tomb of king Tut and removed his entire body from its intended resting place for the purpose of publicly displaying it and gaining a bit of notoriety, now is it?
