Gold? Natural? Someone's attempt at melting jewellrey?

I found this out in a field metal detecting, i washed off the dirt, But can't tell if it's real gold or someone's attemp at melting a coin or jewellrey? I was told that the house site where i go detecting. The woman who lived there was using gasoline to clean some clothe's and the water heater ignited the fume's and she burned to death there. Anyway, I'd think if it were anything other than gold it would have tarnished, or turned green or something? The house has been gone for at least 15 yr's.

Looks like melted jewelry to me, but still gold!!! I'd say that was a pretty good find.

Actually a sad story. The melted jewelry obviously belonged to that woman who died in that fire. A gift from her husband or a loved one? If relics could talk what stories? could? they tell. Sometimes when I dig up an old Civil War Minnie ball at a battlefield site I wonder what happened to the person who fired it. Did he survive the battle or is he buried in the nearby cemetery?

Im no firefighter but I do know that gold melts at 2000 degrees and that would be one hot fire. I would test it and see but It sure looks like gold.H

Looks like gold that melted in the fire. It looks sorta like remnants of a chain on the right side. And yes a house fire will do that to gold jewelry, as I suffered one in 92, and gold that was in a supposedly fire proof box looked like that. HH Great find.

Gasoline will make the fire even hotter than usual. Brandy's right about the house fire. I hate to think that the lady could have been wearing it while using the gas. It definitely looks like gold, though.

Do some of the pits have colored stones in them or am I just seeing things?

I don't see any stone's, I think the colored spots are from the scanner light, I don't have any scale's, But it weights about the same as a Silver half, is thinner than a dime in some places and thicker than a silver dollar in other's, It also look's like dental gold, I thot it was possibly a coin at first because the scan kind of looked like it might have a few detail's left. Who know's, But it doe's kind of give me the creep's thinking about the lady burning to death there. not to mention the whole field in front of the site is an indian burial ground.

Very strange,I think your guess is correct.

I doubt that this was melted while the victim was wearing it. To get to 2,000 deg F, the womans bodie would have been incinerated. Did they find remains? It also would most probably have been retained as forensic evidence.
You can set your mind at ease and have it made into an ecclectic piece of jewelry... ?

I think it was the history channel last year that did a forensic reconstruction of the battlefield where Custer had his last stand at Little Big Horn. They were able to identify the rifles used by Custer's men and the Indians. They also determined where U.S. troops fired from, were killed and the rifles the Indians picked up and used against the Cavalry. They had sight lines, trajectories, ballistics--the whole works. By their forensic reckoning, the battle went much differently than what the history books claim. If I remember correctly, the Cavalry did well with the long distance shots, but once the Indians closed on them the Cavalry rifles became useless, causing a panicked retreat by Custer's men, who were then systematically mowed down as they ran.

Pure gold melts at 1064.43 ?C or 1947.97 ?F ?and while a house fire does rarely exceed 900 ?C (even in spontaneous human cumbustion) the fire was reportedly caused by gasoline which even in relatively small fires can reach 2,200 ?C! This, however was (we presume) not pure 24K gold, but it wasn't an ordinary house fire either! My neighbors bedroom burned (the house was made of reinforced concrete so only the belongings burned) he had freon and other flammable chemicals under his bed (don't ask me why). After it was over it was amazing the things that melted and burned including a jar of marbles that became a colorful flat blob! There are too many variables in this case, but I believe it to be melted gold, either from the fire or by someone deliberately. HH omnicognic ?8)

Yes, it's most probably gold, could also be from coins or similar as some of it seems kind of
yellow, perhaps 21-23K ?
The stuff that is on the left in the picture is probably lower carat. 14-18K

A nice find, and it has a whole in it, ready to put on a chain.

I like those raw gold stuff also, it fits specially for a man I think.

I personally don't care about if the previous owner is dead or not.

I'm buying gold from auctions and a lot of that is inheritance stuff.

Most gold that isn't new has belonged to several persons before you who
probably are dead by now ... thats life.

I'm thinking about melting it down and making it into another shape, I've got quite a few cut, and uncut diamond's, maybe set something in it, I've got a beautiful 1 carat citrine round, But they are so close to the same color,? I'll figure out something..... I almost took it back out there and put it back where i found it...... Certainly don't want anything with bad karma.....
