An unexpected gift from my Mother has really got me fascinated. Now I know this is not real gold and probably pyrite (fools gold) but the craftsmanship is pretty good in my opinion. It has been dropped before or hit against another object a timenor two it looks like. The geode (and please correct me if im wrong for I am not or claim to be in any way an expert on rocks etc tho I do spend quite a bit of time looking at them in curiosity wondering where what when and how they came about. Anyways The geode has been cut in half polished and "decorated" or crafted into a scene that depicts two gentlemen prospecting for gold. I want to know what kinda geode this is, what minerals are in it, and id really like to know if anyone has ran across anything like this so I can possibly identify who crafted this interesting piece. Thanks if you have read this far. Any info is greatly apprected guys.

Sliced geodes with mining scenes are commonly found at rock shops and gem and mineral shows.
Lots of variety, but often agate or chalcedony is selected for its beauty.

Lots of geode material comes from Brazil. (Brazilian Agate is often dyed for brilliant colors.)

I've got a few of those little things myself. You'll see slabs of polished (and colored) geodes with all sorts of scenes on them. I have one with an Eskimo and an igloo, another with an angel and one with a gold mining scene. I like yours better though..
