Went in the field of my permission with the 15” coil. Got a 9-10 on the 800 a dug, don’t know why I dug, but glad I did. A 10k pin that I think reads BETTAPE. I think it’s a pledge pin, not 100% sure because I can’t find the exact one anywhere but I’ll keep looking. Any help is always appreciated. IMG_1446.jpgIMG_0012.jpgIMG_0012.jpgIMG_1442.jpg

It’s a fraternity badge from a local college fraternity at Loyola university in New Orleans known as “The Beggars”. They were founded at Loyola in the 1920s before Greek letter organizations were allowed there. After the university lifted the ban, they adopted the Greek equivalents. They have a link on the Loyola page as well as a Wikipedia page

Here is their composite from 24. The symbol on your active’s badge (not a pledge pin) is in the center.

No problem! I’m big into college fraternities and Greek Letter Organizations and i had seen it in a book on fraternities

What era do you think that was from?

My fraternity (not beggars) hasn’t issued gold badges across the board since the 1960s and most fraternities are in the same boat, however gold ones are still available for purchase through most fraternity’s jewelers. That being said, yours seems to be pretty old as most fraternity men don’t usually wear their badges outside of special occasions as opposed to in the old days when they wore them with much more frequency (as in every day to class). I’d say from the 60s or before.

Way ya go Truth. That’s awesome. Congratulations

Way to go brother, Congrats!!! "D"
