I found both of these gold earrings yesterday at the beach. The Equinox 800 produced a choppy sound over these earrings that went from a high tone to an iron tone and the VDI showed the same. These earrings were both large open hoop 10K gold. I had been running right over signals like this thinking that they were bottle caps. Something told me to dig them. Glad that I did.

Check out the videos (audio is crappy, sorry)

Congratualtions on the nice gold find! :occasion14:

it does make you wonder. I guess it depends on how bad the bottle caps are.

Ive had this happen on land before with my CTX, I always thought it was because its an large "open" gold earring.

Killer finds!

Thats exactly why if it makes noise, I dig it :)

Are they plated, wrapped around wire? I've found a few like that.

I've found many like that too. Hit them with a magnet and see.

I tested it and it’s at lease 10K. Actually tested twice with the same result.

How low did the vdi go? I have been digging everything that constantly has a high tone/number. The only times ive been passing up targets is if they go to all iron after several sweeps

I dig everything above zero now.

It went down to -4 and up to 19. Bottle caps do this too

Its crazy how the ID#s jump so much on this machine. I had a penny ring a solid 4 yesterday morning. I have found a number of good targets are jumping to those negative numbers like that. I am just digging everything that gives me some kind of consistent positive number. I've always went with the assumptions that if you are passing up bottle caps you are passing up gold!

Similar experience on the 800 with low conductors on salt flats, pewter and small lead sound choppy with iron sounds mixed in. Suspect it has something to do with the algorithm in beach 2 to handle the mineralization. CTX definitely doesn't have that problem, but man is it heavy. Congrats on the gold

I try to dig tones but curiosity usually gets me to at least look at the numbers. I try really hard to dig consistent tones regardless of the #s. But sometimes even the tones can be a little bit indecisive. I totally see where some of the more expensive ML users like the better or more consistent #s that they usually get with them.
