Long before I got my metal detector I was walking in my grandparents woods and noticed a broken rusty car. Inside that car were 5 califorinia gold coins I think 3 were tokens and 1 was real the other one was dropped I can not go and metal detect the dropped one because the place is 10 hours by car away and my grandparents sold their property. away the dropped one was octagonal the rest were round here are some pics.

Sorry, but based on the pictures, they all look like gold plated replicas. Even the one with the clasp that isn't tarnished.
Look at how fine the detail of the mercury dime appears. Even though it's blurry, the gold coin with the clasp has the quality of play money.
Anyhow, best to get them examined by a coin dealer that can inspect them in person.

Your probably right, but then again they were made privately from private dies

plated or not still a very cool find in my book

Some times i think that the metal is how costly but why.? But after some moment a answer came in my mind perhaps due to unity of gold is very less so.
