Last Friday evening I went to a CW spot to do some relic hunting. I found 2 flat buttons. One has a backmark but hard to read. On Saturday I went to goldsboro NC and hunted a road construction area and found a chewed Williams Cleaner bullet near an old house. There were some guys drinking malt liquor on the front porch of the house and they waved me over. I asked if I could hunt the yard and they said " sure , if you can go to the store and get me 2 40 oz.'s and a pack of smokes...I got the money " ...I was back in minutes with the groceries...lol. About 4 hrs of hunting yielded a bunch of clad...mostly memorial pennies , a cheap ring and a bunch of brass whatsits(locks , strikeplates etc.). That evening I went to the country auction and saw 2 rings i planned on bidding on. One was a large man's ring (925 silver with stones...diamonds?). I bid one dollar and won both rings...no one bid against me. I also bought a box containing some Iraqi and Afghani currency. The following morning I headed to the beach and hunted alll day. The first 5 hrs i only found clad coins( about $10). I took a break for beers at a local bar and returned to the beach for one final sweep now that the ppl were leaving the beach. I found a VFW pin and near it the clutch that holds it on. A few mins later I find a gold ring with a huge solataire diamond? in it. I was pumped at this point. A few more swings of the detector and i find a golden dollar ( the new ones with the indian woman on it). Then found a gem cut stone in an earring. I also found a formative yrs lincoln penny and a No Cash Value gold colored token coin.
A trip to the jeweler revealed the huge diamond as CZ. I was disappointed ...thinking i had found a 5 - 6 ct diamond. OH well...the search continues.

Thanks for looking and HH y'all.

Hey gxray,

Were you in a bad part of town? I understand those folks did you a favor and let you hunt the property, but, having to buy them beer and cigarettes is a VERY strange request/demand. Sounds like they could be some local toughs. If the area IS bad, I wouldn't go back there. They could be sizing you up to rob you or to steal your finds after hunting. Hope I have the situation wrong, however, sounds iffy to me. Congrats on the super finds though!!!

Looks like a great couple of days hunting. To bad about the ring not being real oh well there is always tomorrow......Matt

Congrats on the SAQ dollar and your gold.....The pics were a little fuzzy....wish I could see the purdy ring! :'(

Yes , this was sort of a bad part of town ...and yes they were a bunch of drunks. Initially he asked me if i could give him a ride to the store , but i said my seat was full of junk but i would go to the store (200 yds away) and buy what he wanted if he showed me the money ,,,which he did ...so i had the proper change for him when i returned . I often hunt in run down neighborhoods because that is where the old Victorian and period houses are. I dont worry about thugs, crackheads and gangsta wannabes, I am trained in martial arts and have instruments of self defense on me at all tmes when hunting these areas. Of course , if the situation looks dangerous , I might find elsewhere to hunt.

see if you can find a friend that has a macro lens on there camera the pics are really blurry it would be great to see some clearer pictures. Awesome finds though! :hello2:
