hey everyone, I haven't done much detecting this year as it has been too hot. and our beach usually only produces garbage ,pop cans bottle caps rusty nails etc,,,,so i dont go there often. but was bored today so I decided to give it a try. and after finding some more garbage i pulled this out of about 6 inches of water. it has KDM and GRT stamped on both the medallion and chain but has none of the other markings I'm used to seeing ie 14k .750 etc..but it sure looks and feels like gold...i recently bought a gold test kit and tried the acids upto 22k and nothing happened to the scratch mark (assuming i am doing this correctly) also tried a strong magnet with zero effect. does this mean this is real? and 22k or higher? has anyone seen these markings before? thanks for your input!

Just my bizarre and random opinion.... Both of those stamps are from different jewelry makers , or 2 different people in general. I think it's 2 different makers on same item solid gold likely 18k+ /- all throughout e item as its not marked... Get it professionally checked but don't sell!!!!

Everything about that looks like high karat asian gold to me.
AWESOME find!
I'll bet you think twice now about just trash at the beach!!!
Grats to ya and thanks for sharing.
HH ALL

KDM is the standard mark that jewelers use to indicate the solder contains Cadmium, a low temperature type of agent that assists in the clasp attachment.

Looks like an Asian 24K gold chain to me. Right clasp and right color..... nice find...

Congratualtions on the Large Gold find! :occasion14:

so this looks/sounds like real high purity gold? why would it not be stamped with the purity? anyway it weighs 10.4 grams and it may just pay for some more metal detecting equipment!

took this to the jeweler and they confirmed its real gold!!!

nice find for sure...did you use your at pro?

hh...
OWG..

Pretty cool.

my at pro was acting up last time i was down there dinging at everything, even the air, so i used the bounty hunter. i dont have it with me but it was the 2nd notch from the left which i think the bounty hunter says 5c ,

I was also going to say it was Indian gold, and the gent depicted on the pendant is, in fact, Mahatma Gandhi. Then again, I am known to orate out of my posterior....GREAT FIND, congratulations! Sub 8-)

Awesome Gold !!!

Judging from the distinctive clasp, I would say this is a piece of 23k Thai Baht jewelry. Google it and you will see they all have that snake like clasp
