Went out with NEPA Don who can never remember his password to get on Tnet. He has been having a lesser of a year and been a bit frustrated. After talking him into just going back to our old ways and heading for the woods. He agreed and the guy was like a silver sniper 6 silver coins. 2 Barber Quarters, barber dime, 2 mercs and an OD Nickel (War Nickel). He also scored 5 V nickels, and 2 Buffs.
As for me. I didn't do well on the coin end. Just an 1892 IH, and 3 wheats. Got another 3 ring bullet. But my best find was a 10K Cameo Ring found in the area Don found all his barbers and V Nicks. I thought because of being found there it must be old til I saw the 10K stamp. Does anyone know when the Karat system started?

Here is Dons score for the day. A record silver day for him.

Great stuff! You guys cleaned house up there! That really is a gorgeous ring. Congrats!

The karat system has been around for quite some time but it was only required in the 60-70s to the present. But makers have been marking them for hundreds of years....it's probably early 20th century ring. They still make broaches and rings like that but regardless awesome find!!!

you guys made some fantastic finds. the cameo is interesting because it's not the typical white relief. my guess is that it probably dates to the late 1940's. that dog tag is cool too!

Hahaha! If you were allowed to go detecting you would have been there too. But the whip was cracking at your house. We all know you where the pants in your family, except that they only come in shorts.
nah brother it's football season, I would've been right there with ya lol

Just last week he told me his wife was at the bed begging...begging him to come out and fight like a man.
are u sure that wasn't your wife dave? Lmao!!!!

Wow , What a beauty - That cameo is carved with greater depth than many (a lot are rather flat ) and the work is very refined .
the filigree detail also adds a lot of class . With that hallmark I would guess American manufacture on the gold but the carving
may well have been done in Italy , or Europe . I'm a bit surprised to see 10K , rather than 14 or 18 due to the attention with
the overall craftsmanship . Beautiful Find !

Beautiful ring !

DAG THAT CAMEO IS SWEET LOOKING PEICE . GOT SOME NICE RELICS WIL .

Wow Outstanding Finds!!! Beautiful! Congrats

WOW!! You two killed it!!

Six silvers and a handful of buffs. and a couple v-nickels. Then you and that gold ring, Sweeeet!!

Your ring is a beauty, but your buddies dog tag "may" be even more valuable. The oldest reported " dog tag " from Scranton,Pa. Is 1917. His tag is very ornate ( a style more valuable to collectors ) and in pretty good condition. I sold a 1898 ILLINOIS tag in the shape of a dog for $655 last year to a well known collector.
I'm not intimating that it's worth that much, only that you might be surprised at it's
value.
You might want to post that tag on "tokens and tags" or put it on "oddcoins" long running thread, regarding dog tags.
I also have a list of Pennsylvania dog tag collectors, if your interested. Nice finds, happy hunting !

He is such a good buddy. He is giving me the tag for my collection. I am working on a collection for a shadow box. He is also giving me a 1921. I have found a few myself. Here is a 1927 I found earlier this year looks just like the one he found.
