Hey AzViper, sorry it took me a while to get back to you but yes that is the same coil I am talking about. F75 for GB Pro
Augoldhunter, you will get a bit more noise just about anytime you go to a larger coil, they are just a bit more receptive to the surroundings. I am going to check out one of the smaller NEL coils as I have heard good info about them. Thanks for your opinions.
Rebel73153, just to keep things straight the GB II and GB Pro do not run the same frequency. Coil fittings are not the same on these two units. If you want to try a new coil for the GB Pro then get a coil that will fit an F75, they are compatible.
DizzyDigger, you do not know until you give it a try, new discoveries are made daily. Good luck
Nuggetshooter323, I also wish that they would have made a 5 or 6 inch eliptical boot for the GB Pro instead of the 5 inch round.
Extractor, I feel the same, as both coils do have their own place in detecting. Many times I hunt for gold in high trash areas and this is where the GB Pro excels.
I was a bit irritated at one of the previous posts
Quote, my response...
"When you want to learn something you can easily find a EXPERT like Steve Herschbach,James Straight,Bill Southern,Chris Gholson,Chris Ralph and many others to get good advice. Not a self quoting megalomaniac janitor but full time professional miners who have owned mines, businesses, fed their families, advanced our industry through innovation, educated beyond the norm and detected like myself for over 52 years. Newer better technology is here for those who dare and reap the rewards. All this insane rants because toooo heavey or cumberson or 1 person tried and failed hahaha-have fun as this thread is dead to me as you can't cure stubborn ignorance EVER-John"
To all; Who is the self quoting megalomaniac janitor? I work in the nursing field at the Redding Veterans Home providing care for our Vets. I know it's not me.
As for knowing people, I know all the names quoted above and talk to a few of them daily, and have also hunted with a few of them over the years.
As for time gold detecting, I have only been doing that for a little over forty years. I started with the Whites 6000 DI and the Garrett Ground Hog and both of those were top of the line in their day. We use to be able to find half ounce nuggets an inch deep at the Golden Eagle/Big Easy in Northern Nevada back then. Times and technology have changed. I did fantastic back then, and gold was only about $200.00 an ounce, so I guess that would throw me into that professional slot.

Too heavy and cumbersome, yes, the butterfly coil was for me. Most people on this forum know where I live and are aware of the thick manzanita that I crawl through. The larger, open web design caught up on too many branches. Too me there is not enough sensitivity gained for several hundred dollars output. The GB Pro/ten inch coil is a top notch combination.

As for the coil being new and innovative, yes, working better than anything else out there,no. A good friend of mine agrees that you get more ground coverage on a bigger piece of gold, but when it comes to the crumbs he and his partner go with the ten and five inch coils on the GB Pro. This couple has found a lot of gold with their GB Pros, however, my friend says most was found with the two smaller coils.

I will agree with the quote about MineLab, most people resisted change and were very leery of the new units when they first came out. I was not one of these people as I bought all the gold detectors that MineLab successively came out with and I was one of the first to do so. I stopped at the 3000 because I did not see the need for anything more advanced than the 3000. Most of my gold has come out at six to twelve inches and I can get a pennyweight nugget at eighteen inches, why do I need more? My GB Pro fills the void. I continue to find gold.

As for business's, been there and done that after my military years. In the last fifteen years I have found it to be a lot easier working for someone else. I go to work, punch in, get holidays, sick days, comp days, personal time days and I get to work with the Vets of whom I am very close to as I am one. My time is very well compensated as I work for the State of California. I have a schedule that allows me lots of time with my wife, family and friends and this is good. I do not have the headaches of business and I am doing just fine.

As far as new technology and keeping up with it I think I stay on top of things pretty well. I share any information on this forum as much as I can. Sometimes new is just not as good as what you have been used to.

On a final note, everyone on this forum has a right to their own opinion and I think most people on this forum are very capable of making a final decision based on the information received. I really do not think everyone on this forum runs out and does what I advise or suggest. I am sure there are other members of this forum that had or have business's and are just as educated and capable of making daily decisions. Please do not put words in other peoples mouths.
